South Carolina LLC Filing Fees (2026): Formation, Agent and Ongoing
Budgeting a South Carolina LLC is refreshingly short work. There is one meaningful state fee at the start, and for a standard LLC, nothing recurring owed to the Secretary of State afterward. Below is each fee the state actually charges, the exception that trips people up, and our own pricing laid out plainly.
The $110 State Filing Fee
Filing the Articles of Organization runs $110, an amount written into statute at S.C. Code § 33-44-1204(a)(1) rather than set by agency schedule. If you file online at Business Entities Online, the portal collects a processing surcharge at checkout, so your online total will come out somewhat higher than $110. That extra is the portal's charge, not the state fee. A mailed paper filing pays exactly $110.
What South Carolina Never Bills You For
- No annual report. A standard LLC files no annual report with the Secretary of State. The S.C. Uniform Limited Liability Company Act (Title 33, Chapter 44) contains no such requirement.
- No recurring Secretary of State fee. Zero per year, every year.
- No franchise tax on a default-taxed LLC.
One clarification, because corporation guidance bleeds into LLC articles all over the internet: South Carolina corporations file a $25 CL-1 initial report along with their $110 formation fee. That CL-1 does not apply to an LLC unless the LLC elects corporate tax treatment, in which case it files the CL-1 once at registration and then corporate returns with the Department of Revenue. Keep the default classification and none of that regime touches you.
