About LLC South Carolina.org
LLC South Carolina.org forms South Carolina LLCs for a $199 service fee plus South Carolina's state fees, with the first year of South Carolina registered agent service included.
Fees, line by line
South Carolina LLC formation: $199 our fee + $110 South Carolina state filing fee = $309 due today. The first year of registered agent service is included; it renews at $99/year after 12 months.
EIN (federal tax ID) application: $99. The IRS charges no fee for an EIN. Founders with no SSN or ITIN add $99 for international processing.
State fees are shown separately from our fee. We collect them with your order and pay them to the state at cost when we file.
Not included
- The state's filing fee and any mandatory state expedite fee. They are listed separately above, collected with your order and paid to the state.
- The federal EIN (tax ID number). That is a separate service: $99.
- An operating agreement.
- BOI / FinCEN beneficial-ownership reporting.
- Legal or tax advice. We are a filing service, not a law firm.
What you get
- Preparation and filing of your LLC's formation document (the Articles of Organization or South Carolina's equivalent) with the state.
- Delivery of the state-returned formation documents to your online account.
- Your first year of South Carolina registered agent service. It renews at $99/year after 12 months.
The process
Standard South Carolina processing for a new LLC takes 1โ2 business days after we file.
State processing times are set by the state and can change.
South Carolina LLC requirements we cover
Does a South Carolina LLC file an annual report? No. A standard South Carolina LLC files no annual report with the Secretary of State and pays that office nothing from one year to the next. This is not a loophole or a recent change; the S.C. Uniform Limited Liability Company Act (S.C. Code Title 33, Chapter 44) simply contains no annual report requirement for LLCs. If a compliance-service email is warning you about a looming South Carolina LLC annual report deadline, it is describing an obligation the statute never created.
South Carolina writes its registered agent rule as a pair of requirements, and understanding both halves saves confusion later. Under S.C. Code ยง 33-44-108, every LLC in the state must designate and continuously maintain a designated office in South Carolina and an agent for service of process. The designated office has a distinctive wrinkle: it does not need to be a place where the company actually does business. The agent is the familiar half, the party who receives lawsuits and official notices on the company's behalf.

Refunds and cancelling
Registered agent service renews automatically for another year on each renewal date, unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account, or give written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date. Renewal reminders go out about 60 days ahead.
You can cancel at any time from your online account or by contacting support. Cancelling does not by itself remove us as registered agent on the state record; a change of registered agent or resignation filing does that.
Anything already filed with the government is not refundable. Registered agent fees are not refundable once we or our partner have been appointed with the state. State fees are not refundable once paid to the state.
Quick answers
Is a registered agent included?
Yes. Your first year of South Carolina registered agent service is included with the formation. After 12 months it renews automatically at $99/year unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account.
How do I get an EIN for my South Carolina LLC?
Apply directly on IRS.gov โ it's free and takes about 10 minutes. You'll receive your EIN immediately after completing the online application. Never pay a third party for an EIN. If you'd like assistance with the EIN application, we offer it as a separate paid add-on. The IRS application is always free directly.
What's included in your formation service?
Here's what the $199 fee buys: we prepare and file your South Carolina Articles of Organization with the state. That's it. The $110 state fee goes directly to the South Carolina Secretary of State. Registered agent: first year included with your LLC, then $99/year. Operating agreement and EIN are each separate optional services.
How much does it cost to form an LLC in South Carolina?
The state filing fee to form an LLC in South Carolina is $110. That's priced in the middle of the national range for LLC filing fees. There's no recurring annual report fee on top of that. For $199 we prepare and submit your Articles to the state. That doesn't include the $110 state fee, EIN application help, or an operating agreement, which are each their own line item. Registered agent service: first year included with your LLC, then $99/year.
